Since then the company has been involved in diversified business activities like Telecommunication, Engineering, Leather, Garments, Textiles, Sewing thread, Deep-sea fishing, Jute, Trading etc. The major strength of AKK is having successful joint ventures. A.K KHAN & Co. Ltd has a number of successful joint ventures, which includes a Joint venture with Britain (COATS) for sewing thread manufacturing, with Malaysia (Telekom Malaysia) for mobile telecommunication operation, with Malaysia (Teow Hong International ) for umbrella manufacturing for the export market, with Japan (TAIYO fisheries and MITSUI CORPORATION) for deep-sea fishing and with Austria (Elin Union AG) for manufacturing of heavy electrical goods, transformers etc.

Ceylinco Internet Services Ltd (CISL) is a member of Ceylinco Consolidated.
Ceylinco Consolidated is one of Sri Lanka’s oldest and largest business conglomerates. The spirit of innovation coupled with yearning to grow bigger and better has remained the hallmark of Ceylinco Consolidated, which now includes over 100 subsidiaries and associate companies, covering diverse sectors such as banking, insurance and financial services, real estates, diamonds, jewellery, tourism and information technology, and employs over 22,000 employees.
CISL is a result of the success achieved by a small profit centre that carried out their business as an Internet Service Provider since 1997, under the wings of Ceycom Global Communication Ltd (CGCL).
CGCL was a joint venture between Ceylinco and Hughes USA (the major shareholder of INMARSAT and INTELSAT satellite systems) and their core business remain in satellite and terrestrial Data Communication.
This small profit centre soon became a strategic business unit that made its progress growing from a handful of employees to 40 employees and from a single, individual consumer to 10,000 consumers and over 50 corporate customers by year 2002. Services offered ranged from dial-up and broadband internet access with major concentration in the area of developing web and e-commerce applications.
This was the business unit that hosted the Sri Lanka’s first ever electronic shopping mall www.avakasakade.com. As the concentration on web applications grew more than the Internet service provisioning, they were able to host web based applications, virtual servers, and provide advanced data centre services to their clientele. Due to this success the internet division of Ceycom was incorporated as an independent entity on 15th November 2002, registered under the name Ceylinco Internet Services Ltd.
Today, Ceylinco Internet Services is a multifaceted Service Provider offering, ISP services, ASP services, custom designed website development and maintenance, web applications and e-commerce solutions, customized training to corporate entities and operates a 24/7/365 state-of-the-art Internet Data Centre.
